Newspapers are beginning to use Local Matters materials and ideas to tell readers and non-readers alike about the importance of community-based journalism. Georgia Press Association developed the Local Matters movement so newspapers could build on a common theme — that communities with newspapers are better informed and better places to live because of the important work done by these local institutions. While the theme may be universal, the ways newspapers can choose to use the Local Matters material are all their own.
